Fall is one of my favorite times of the year.  The cooler air, the High School football, the College Football and the Pro Football and yes the Church calendar.  First Methodist is like a lot of other churches in that the Fall season from Oct 1^st through the Holidays is a very busy time. There’s a lot to choose from in terms of Bible studies, children’s and youth activities, and service opportunities.

        As modern day Christians, I think it is important for us to avoid both ends of the “Busy Scale.”  At a larger church like ours with so much going on, the temptation for some will be to try and do too much.  If you and I try to find our value or significance in the amount of Christian activity we involve ourselves in, eventually we will find ourselves exhausted.  On the other hand, some of us need to break out of our “Sunday morning only” involvement and try something new like Wednesday night supper or helping in the Food Pantry.

      One of the great things about our God is that He not only knows us but He also knows our schedules, our spiritual maturity level and our limitations.  God knows those of us who need to slow down and those of us who need to get going.  The Lord will meet us right where we are and lead us accordingly.

    So as we charge into an exciting, jam-packed Fall Church calendar, just make sure your plans line up with His plans because life works better when they do!
